In this module, the students will be introduced to the field of linguistics which refers to the scientific study of language .It aims to achieve the following broad objectives:
· Present the detailed definition of linguistics and its importance for language teachers; Explain the role of language in communication together with its different features, functions and modes; Help the students differentiate between different branches of linguistics and their main concern; etc.
