Applied Linguistics is a field that explores how linguistic theories and methods can be used to solve real-world language problems. This module examines the relationship between language and its practical applications in areas such as language teaching and learning, translation, discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and language policy. Students develop analytical and research skills to apply linguistic knowledge to educational and social contexts.

This module is devoted to 5th year students. It is taught in two semesters. In this m9dule they study: 

1.     What is language ? (uses, functions and studies)

2.     Introduction to applied linguistics

3.     Spoken/ written language (Mixing), variations of monologue and dialogue

4.     Discourse, text, utterance, sentence, varieties of text and discourse

5.      Context  

6.     Discourse analysis : written &spoken / cohesion & coherence (register analysis)

7.     Pragmatics
